PARLIAMENT SPEAKER ŞENTOP GOT TOGETHER WITH MINISTER ÖZER AND TEACHERS FROM 81 CITIES

Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop received Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and teachers from 81 cities on the occasion of November 24 Teachers' Day.

Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop greeted Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and teachers from 81 cities at the Parliament's kindergarten by saying, "Welcome to the Parliament, the center of our independence and national will." Şentop congratulated the special day of teachers who work both in the county and abroad for their efforts and sacrifices in order to raise the future generations of the country.

Noting that paradigms of teaching are changing in the rapidly changing world in line with the technological developments, Şentop said, "Students can easily teach any information if they have curiosity in any subject but we have seen especially during the pandemic that schools are not only giving education, they have further roles. They are role models and guides."

Şentop stated that teachers kept pace with these rapid changes and decorated their students with cultural values adding, "Children who are bombarded by smartphones, digital games and all visual systems need your guidance more than ever. Teachers do not only teach classes but they establish rapport with their students and become an example with their manners and behaviors about how to survive in the society."

"You must closely follow technological developments and trends"
Reminding that Farabi defined the purpose of education as "to find happiness and urge people to be useful to the society", Şentop said that under the current conditions teachers should closely follow technological developments and trends.

"Those who teach are considered ageless. We need open-minded teachers who keep up with the dynamism of their students, Regardless of hardships and climate of your place of duty, you work with patience and sacrifice to teach your students," stated Şentop.

Addressing teachers, Şentop said, "Remember Nobel winner scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar and how he proudly mentioned his teachers. I believe that your students are proud of you. They need your compassion and love."

Şentop stressed that students need the guidance of teachers most in the changing conditions in the world adding that, "Your duty is beyond giving information about lessons. We have understood your responsibility and value especially during the pandemic. You must not forget your responsibility, love for your children and passion for teaching. I would like to welcome you to the Parliament on this special day."

"Teaching will be defined as career"
Meanwhile, Minister of National Education Özer expressed his gratitude to the Parliament on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

Stressing that Turkey is a country that has big goals, Özer said, "Our teachers that we trusted for raising our children and youngsters in order to achieve our goals should show extraordinary effort to carry our country to a better future. We are happy to have such valuable teaching power which can easily and quickly adapt to changes."

Özer pointed out that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had given the good news that "Teaching Profession Law" will be submitted to Parliament soon adding that, "The new regulation will bring comprehensive profession law for teachers for the first time in the history of Turkey.  Teaching will be considered as a career and rights, duties and responsibilities of teachers, expert teachers and head teachers will be defined in detail in the new law."
